Kaantha Movie Review :
Kantha really nails the vibe of those old school Indian period films - you know the ones that just transport you to another world.
As far as performances go - Dulquer Salmaan and Samuthirakani are absolute standouts, they're the real stars of the show. Bhagyashree Borse and Rana Daggubati are good too, and to be fair the rest of the cast do a solid job with their parts.
The songs, you know, really come to life when you watch this in a cinema. Something about that big screen experience.
The background score is perfect - it adds a whole other level to that period-drama feel.
The cinematography is crisp and visually stunning. Not a single dull moment.
I'd say the production values and the technical work are top-notch from start to finish.
Both the first and second half have you hooked from start to finish.
On the flip side, the slow pace and that long runtime make it a bit of a slog at times - you feel like the film is dragging on a bit.
Overall: it's a good one, not everyone's cup of tea
AAY METER : ★★★☆☆
